SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTEGRATED MULTI-TROPHIC AQUACULTURE

A system for integrated multi-tropic aquaculture (IMTA) comprises a tank or a raceway; a volume of water enclosed therein; one or more cages in the volume of water; at least one species of surface attached animals (SAA) inside the cages; and, a single species of free swimming animals (FSA) in the tank outside the cages. A method of IMTA comprises co-culturing at least one species of SAA and one species of FSA in a single volume of water, wherein the SAA are cultured in one or more cages submerged in the volume of water.
