An inoculation nozzle (10) is mounted in close proximity to the cutting edge of the penetration tool on the lower end of the device. The nozzle is connected through the lower body of the device to the output of the metering pump. The type and form of the nozzle as well as the method of attachment to the device can be varied to meet the particular needs of the application. An adjustable, ambidextrous foot stirrup (11) is mounted on the lower portion of the device to aid the operator in driving the penetration tool into the bark, should that be required.
