The present invention relates to a novel type of porcine astroviruses and the uses thereof. The invention also relates to parts and subunits and variants of said viruses, compositions comprising the same, their manufacture, and their uses e.g., for the design and production of vaccines for treating pigs. The invention also concerns methods for treating and/or preventing astrovirus-associated diseases, as well as methods and materials for detecting an infection.
