A method for synthesizing biodegradable poly(succinic acid-co-butylene terephthalate) (PBST50-50) catalyzed by organic guanidine; the method uses a non-toxic biomass organic guanidine compound as a main catalyst and uses a non-toxic acid salt of zinc as a co-catalyst to form a bi-component high activity catalytic system, and uses succinic acid (SA), terephthalic acid (TA), and 1,4-butanediol (BDO) as monomers; the biodegradable PBST50-50 is synthesized first by means of direct melt polycondensation, and then by means of solid phase polycondensation. The PBST50-50 synthesized by employing the method has an average molecular weight Mw that may reach 1.0×105-1.2×105, and a melting point of Tm≥170°C, the product color being white.
