The invention relates to a method for producing prills (1), in particular fertilizer prills, which are coated with at least one biodegradable polymer layer (1.3, 1.5), in particular a PLA layer. The at least one biodegradable polymer layer is applied onto a carrier material (1.1) of each prill, and the prill (1) is first coated with at least one first biodegradable layer (1.3) on the carrier material (1.1) in a drum-coating coating step, in particular in a drum coater (13) at a relative negative pressure, and then with at least one second biodegradable layer (1.5) over the first layer in a whirl-coating coating step, in particular in a whirl-coating coater (15) at a relative positive pressure. The invention additionally relates to an assembly for producing coated prills and to prills which are obtained using said assembly.
