A nautical fender (1) is disclosed that is for attachment to a water-side structure (2), such as a pier. The fender comprises a flexible skin (20) and a resilient core (10). The skin (20) defines, at least in part, a flange portion (30) via which the fender (1) can be attached, in use, to the water-side structure (2). A first compartment (21) is also defined, and arranged to house the resilient core (10). The fender (1) defines an upper surface (50) which is arranged, in use, to bridge between the water-side structure (2) and a water-craft (9). The upper surface (50) presents a level support surface for supporting passengers stepping thereon, with the resilient core (10) acting as a supporting foundation for the upper surface (50) of the fender (1).
