Disclosed is a cloud computing-based salary calculation method, the method comprising: establishing a salary calculation engine on the basis of a cloud computing engine; defining a salary calculation algorithm, and establishing an algorithm library on the basis of the salary calculation algorithm; obtaining employee information; invoking, according to the employee information, the salary calculation algorithm from the algorithm library, and operating the salary calculation engine according to the salary calculation algorithm; and obtaining the calculation result of the salary calculation engine and presenting same to a user. The present application also provides an application server. According to the application server and the cloud computing-based salary calculation method provided by the present application, the salary calculation algorithm is redefined, and concurrent calculation is performed by using the employee as a unit, so that, by using the capability of cloud computing, the concurrency of the salary calculation is multiplied, and at the same time, since there is no longer repetitive calculation of multiple kinds of data caused by calculation using organizations as granularity, the calculation performance is multiplied, and the load of the database is reduced.
