ERYTHROPOIETIN (EPO) APPLICATION IN SPINAL CORD INJURY (SCI) THERAPY

The invention relates to the therapy of dysfunctions, disorders, and destructions which occur in consequence of a spinal cord injury (SCI) event in a patient, preferably in cases where standard treatment with steroids is not or not more effective. The invention relates, above all, to the treatment of such secondary pathologic events after SCI by means of erythropoietin or erythropoietin derivatives (EPO) in combination with other drugs according to a specific therapy setting and management, wherein the treatment can be applied without or during or after spinal cord surgery.
