METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OBTAINING THEVENIN EQUIVALENT PARAMETERS OF A POWER NETWORK

A method and apparatus for obtaining the Thévenin equivalent parameters of a power network are provided. The method is performed at a point of common coupling on the network having a plurality m of wires. The method includes: injecting or drawing test modulated currents into or from each of m-1 of the wires, with the currents simultaneously including at least two frequency components. With no additional current being provided in the m^th wire, it provides a reference. An amplitude of the resultant voltage of the two frequency components at each of the m-1 wires are obtained. A magnitude of a Thévenin equivalent impedance at the two frequency components of each of the m-1 wires is obtained using the known current and the obtained voltage for each frequency component. The Thévenin equivalent parameter values of the m-1 wires are obtained using the calculated Thévenin equivalent impedances.
