The method comprises the following steps: when cookware enters a thermal insulation state, acquiring the initial weight of rice in the body of the cookware by means of a weighting apparatus, and performing cover opening and closing detection on the cookware so as to determine whether a cover opening operation has been carried out during the thermal insulation process of the cookware (S1); if a cover opening operation has been carried out during the thermal insulation process of the cookware, acquiring the actual weight of the rice in the body of the cookware in real time by means of the weighting apparatus, and determining whether the current actual weight is greater than the initial weight (S2); and if so, when the temperature in the cookware reaches a pre-set reference thermal insulation temperature, controlling the reduction of a target thermal insulation temperature of an upper cover of the cookware and the reduction of the heating power of the upper cover of the cookware, so as to prevent the surface of the rice from drying out and yellowing, and controlling a target thermal insulation temperature of the bottom of the cookware and the heating power of the bottom of the cookware so that same remains unchanged (S3), such that the thermal insulation performance for rice is more accurate.
