Disclosed in the present invention are a cyanobenzene-containing or thiocyanobenzene-containing compound and applications thereof in organic electroluminescent devices. The compound is formed by cyanobenzene or thiocyanobenzene groups, has a very deep HOMO energy level and a high electron mobility, and is suitable for being used as a hole blocking material or an electron transport material. The compound in the present invention has a hole group structure, can balance electrons and holes of a material, so that the material can be used as a main material of an electron-type light-emitting layer. In addition, electron groups of the compound in the present invention have high rigidity, and have the characteristics of being not easy to crystallize and gather among molecules and having a good film-forming property. After the compound serving as an organic electroluminescent functional layer material is used in OLED devices, the current efficiency, the power efficiency and the external quantum efficiency of the devices are greatly improved, and the service life of the devices is remarkably improved.
