The present disclosure generally relates to materials for use in applications such as light-emitting devices. For example, certain aspects are generally directed to a composition such as a composition including a perovskite structure (e.g., a perovskite nanocrystal) having a formula ABX₃, and methods of making or using such compositions. In some embodiments, A comprises one or more cations, e.g., methylammonium, formamidinium, and/or cesium. In certain cases, B comprises one or more metals and/or one or more transition metals (e.g., lead) and/or one or more dopants (e.g., manganese). In some embodiments, a dopant is incorporated into the perovskite structure. X may comprise one or more halides. Certain aspects of the disclosure are also generally directed to light-emitting diodes such as perovskite structure light-emitting diodes having high efficiency, and methods of making or using such devices.
