SRM/MRM ASSAY FOR SUBTYPING HEAD AND NECK CANCER HISTOLOGY

Specific peptides from the CDK6 protein are provided that are particularly advantageous for detecting and quantifying CDK6 protein directly in biological samples that have been fixed in formalin. Selected Reaction Monitoring (SRM) and/or Data Independent Acquisition (DIA) mass spectrometry are used for the detection. A protein sample is prepared from the biological sample using the Liquid Tissue reagents and protocol and one or more of the described fragment peptides from the CDK6 protein is detected and/or quantitated in the Liquid Tissue sample by the SRM and/or DIA mass spectrometry methods. Measurement of CDK6 distinguishes between adenoid cystic carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
