The invention relates to an assistance device (DA) fitted in a vehicle (VC) moving in a car park (PK), which has traffic rules and a lane serving car park spaces (EP), and comprising acquisition means (MAQ) acquiring images of the surroundings in front of said vehicle (VA). Said device (DA) comprises analysis means (MAL) that analyse said images in order to determine signage defining said traffic rules and control means (MCT) that determine a route for the vehicle (VC) according to said determined traffic rules. In the absence of signage, the analysis means (MAL) analyse the images in order to determine whether they contain information projected onto the ground by parked vehicles (VG), and if so, they compare said projected information with stored signage images in order to determine at least one of the traffic rules and/or the presence of an available car park space (EP) in the vicinity.
