The invention relates to a method and system of smart monitoring rings for characterising and interpreting the behaviour and health condition of an animal by identifying predetermined wavelets that are characteristic of each type of movement of the livestock, via the use of two six-axis inertial sensors, a gyroscope and an accelerometer, and algorithms for processing data simultaneously in the space-time domains and the space-time frequency.
