IONIC LIQUIDS DERIVED FROM THIABENDAZOLIUM AND APPLICATIONS OF SAME IN THE MEDICAL FIELD

The present invention concerns a method for synthesising novel ionic liquids having antiproliferative activities on cancer cells, and the therapeutic applications of same as anticancer agents. A novel range of organic ionic liquids has been prepared using thiabendazolium as the starting precursor, by alkylation of thiabendazole in the presence of alkyl agents having aliphatic chains with a chain length of between C₈ and C₁₈, followed by a quaternisation reaction using iodomethane, the products from this reaction undergoing a metathesis reaction in the presence of different counter anions. The molecules thus obtained have been evaluated for their antiproliferative activities in vitro with respect to human cancer cell lines.
