Provided is a detachable coupler mechanism for coupling carriages based on gear transmission. The mechanism comprises a front carriage connecting rod (1), a driving housing (7) and a rear carriage connecting rod (8). The derailment of a front carriage causes the front carriage to drive the front carriage connecting rod to swing, and the front carriage connecting rod further drives a first gear (2) to rotate; the rotation of the first gear drives three second gears (5) to rotate; the rotation of the three second gears drives the driving housing to rotate; the rotation of the driving housing drives three fourth gears (10) to rotate; and the rotation of the three fourth gears drives a limiting drive gear (15) to rotate. During the rotation of the limiting drive gear, when one guide slot (27) in a limiting drive cylinder cooperates with a corresponding guide notch (25) in a limiting coupler (16), the rear carriage connecting rod and a limit block (24) mounted thereon will disengage from the front carriage along the corresponding guide slot and guide notch, thus preventing a train from turning over.
