Disclosed is a call status identification method, belonging to the technical field of mobile communications. The call status identification method comprises the following steps: S1, receiving one's own number and a user status sent by a mobile phone, associating same and saving same in a database; S2, receiving a contact list sent by a mobile phone performing status inquiry, determining whether there is a mobile phone number in the database that is the same as a mobile phone number in the contact list, and if so, executing S3, and if not, ending the process; and S3, downloading, to the mobile phone performing status inquiry, a user status associated with the mobile phone number in the database that is the same as the mobile phone number in the contact list, and displaying the mobile phone number, corresponding to the user status, of the user in the contact list of the mobile phone performing status inquiry. By means of the present application, the status of an addressee can be acquired in advance, thus avoiding disturbing or affecting the counterpart and giving the counterpart a bad impression due to making a phone call at an inappropriate time.
