The invention relates to an ex vivo model for subcutaneous injection and is directed towards an in vitro method comprising the steps of (i) immersing a skin explant in a liquid matrix capable of solidifying such that the upper face of the epidermis is not covered, which matrix is itself contained in a cell culture insert, the base of which consists of a porous membrane, and of (ii) solidifying this matrix so as to trap the immersed part of this skin explant, wherein the upper face of the epidermis is not covered, and to cause this same matrix to adhere to the side walls and to the porous membrane of the insert, wherein the skin explant comprises a thickness of at least 5 mm of hypodermis.
