A TFT array substrate and a liquid crystal display panel. The TFT array substrate adopts Notch design, where one end of a substrate base (200) of the TFT array substrate is formed with a recess (260); the substrate base (200) comprises a functional area (201) and a peripheral area (202) located at the outer side of the functional area (201); a planarization layer (400) on the substrate base (200) has a first part (410) corresponding to the functional area (201) of the substrate base (200); an area of the first part (410) close to the recess (260) is provided with at least one dent (420); the depth of the dent (420) is less than the thickness of the first part (410). Therefore, after the TFT array substrate and a color film substrate are paired and liquid crystal is injected between the TFT array substrate and the color film substrate, during liquid crystal diffusion, a liquid crystal stack generated on the area of the first part (410) of the planarization layer (400) close to the recess (260) will be accommodated in the dent (420), so that a liquid crystal layer of a formed liquid crystal display panel has good thickness uniformity, and the product quality is improved.
