A structure of a floating semi-submersible wind turbine platform is provided. The floating wind turbine platform includes three elongated stabilization columns, each stabilizing column having an outer shell including an upper end, a keel end, and an inner shaft. Each stabilization column further comprises a water entrainment plate formed on its keel in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the stabilization column. The floating wind turbine platform also includes three truss members, each truss member comprising two horizontal main tubular members and two diagonal tubular members. The truss member connects the stabilization columns to form a triangular cross-section. The elongated wind turbine tower is disposed above the upper end of one of the three stabilization columns and the longitudinal axis of the tower is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the stabilization column.
