According to an embodiment of the present invention, a toll collection system comprises: an antenna for collecting a toll of a vehicle by communicating with a terminal device of the vehicle for toll collection; and a vehicle sensor for sensing a type of the vehicle by sequentially transmitting and receiving an infrared signal and a radio frequency signal, determining a type of an accessing vehicle by considering a vehicle sensing result sensed by the vehicle sensor, and transferring information on the determined type of vehicle to the antenna.
