The present invention relates to a method for managing content based on metadata ontology, and a content management apparatus using the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for managing content based on metadata ontology comprises the steps of: separately registering respective media configuring first content while registering an atypical data type of first content composed of a text and media; classifying and storing a typical data type of second content according to a rule-based extraction scheme of a predefined extension metadata system in the first content; and constructing a metadata ontology environment through the second content.
