Disclosed are a method and apparatus to control bicycle type exercise equipment to be suitable for a user or a patient in exercise by analyzing biological signals according to exercise situations. The method to analyze biological signals and control exercise performed in a smart device linked with a control board of recumbent exercise equipment includes: a step of monitoring biological signals of a user using the recumbent exercise equipment; a step of receiving the exercise situation of the user from the control board of the recumbent exercise equipment; a step of analyzing biological signals based on the exercise situation; a step of comparing a basic state of the recumbent exercise equipment or a first state of the recumbent exercise equipment under the exercise situation with a second state of the recumbent exercise equipment based on the analysis of the biological signals; and a step of adjusting a posture of the recumbent exercise equipment through the control board to correspond to the second state based on the comparison result. As a bicycle type exercise equipment, the recumbent exercise equipment includes at least one actuator to adjust the height of a chair and the angle of a backrest at one end of a base, the height of a pedal at the other end of the base, and a distance between the chair and the pedal.
