The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing failure of a common rail system that is capable of diagnosing failure of the common rail system and fuel leakage more precisely in an early step of production. According to the present invention, the method for diagnosing failure of a common rail system includes: a rail pressure filling step where a control unit fills a common rail to a first target pressure; a rail pressure maintaining step where the control unit maintains the pressure of the common rail at the first target pressure for a first set time after the rail pressure filling step; a rail pressure decreasing step where the control unit closes a rail pressure control valve and turns off an engine to decrease the pressure of the common rail in the case that the pressure of the common rail is maintained at the first target pressure for the first set time as a result of performing the rail pressure maintaining step; a rail pressure monitor step where the control unit measures a time consumed for the pressure of the common rail to reach a second target pressure set to be lower than the first target pressure from the time of starting the rail pressure decreasing step; a time comparison step where the control unit compares a reference value with a difference value obtained by subtracting the measured consumed time from a preset reference time after the rail pressure monitor step; and an oil leakage warning step where the control unit outputs a warning signal to a diagnosis device in the case that the difference value exceeds the reference value as a result of performing the time comparison step.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
