The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating gouty arthritis containing apamin an active component. The active ingredient of the present invention, apamin, has effects of: lowering expression of inflammatory cytokines in animal models in which gouty arthritis is induced; reducing the thickness of swollen feet caused by gouty arthritis; and increasing the lowered weight-bearing ratio (%).
