Shear performance test fixture of ultrafine foamed thermoplastic composite

Lap shear test fixtures and methods are used to test the performance of infrared welded thermoplastic composite parts such as infrared welding or resistive implant welding or adhesive bonding. Test specimens tested are provided in production preparation parts with common formulations. The test fixture has at least two aligned blocks with at least two lateral support blocks for holding a test specimen with two welded substrates. The test is performed in a compression mode at a preset crosshead speed until the two thermoplastic substrates are broken in the full load produced by the universal test machine in the shear mode.
