Disclosed is a method for identification and visualization of a medical image-based cerebral thrombosis area. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for identification and visualization of a thrombosis area comprises the steps of: matching an acquired computer tomography (CT) image of a subject with an angiographic CT image-based average standard model; identifying a candidate blood vessel region from the CT image of the subject based on the result of matching with the average standard model; applying a threshold value for the brightness of the CT image to the candidate blood vessel region in order to derive a selected volume as a first thrombus candidate region; deriving at least a portion of the first thrombus candidate region as a second thrombus candidate region based on size information of the first thrombus candidate region; and granting, to the second thrombus candidate region, a visual element distinct from that for a remaining portion of the CT image of the subject to visualize the second thrombus candidate region. Thus, the examiner can easily and accurately find and analyze thrombus.
