The present invention relates to a distribution intelligence ESS device using solar power generation and an operation method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the distribution intelligence ESS device using solar power generation which is installed in a distribution electric pole comprises: a hybrid controller controlling an operation mode setting for supplying power required from a distribution intelligence control box in accordance with a power system state; an automatic transfer switch (ATS) switching a power supply path supplied to the distribution intelligence control box in accordance with an operation mode set by the hybrid controller; and a charging and discharging battery charging and discharging power generated by a solar cell panel by control of the hybrid controller.
