A GPS L1C signal acquisition apparatus and method are disclosed. The disclosed GPS L1C signal acquisition apparatus acquires a GPS L1C signal transmitted from a satellite by using a delay-and-multiply (DM) technique, and comprises: a receiving unit for receiving a received signal for the GPS L1C signal; and a signal acquiring unit for calculating a decision variable by using a first DM signal based on the received signal and an optimal time delay (σ_0) and a second DM signal generated on the basis of information on a previously known GPS L1C signal and the optimal time delay (σ_0), and acquiring a GPS L1C signal by using the decision variable. The optimal time delay (σ_0) has a relationship of σ_0 = 33nT_0 = kπ/2πf_IF, wherein n is an integer greater than or equal to 1, T_0 is a period of a raging code included in the GPS L1C signal, k is an integer greater than or equal to 1, and f_IF is an intermediate frequency of the GPS L1C signal. According to the present invention, the problem of ambiguity in signal acquisition can be completely solved.
