PGPY Novel nitrogen-fixing bacteria Cryptococcus podzolicus PGPY and use thereof

The present invention relates to novel nitrogen-fixing bacteria, Cryptococcus podzolicus PGPY, and uses thereof and, more specifically, to novel nitrogen-fixing bacteria, Cryptococcus podzolicus PGPY, deposited under accession number KACC93288P in Korean agricultural culture collection (KACC) of the national academy of agricultural science; a composition for promoting plant growth comprising the bacterial strain or culture material as an effective component; and a method of promoting plant growth by using the bacterial strain. The bacterial strain of the present invention has nitrogen-fixing ability and thus can supply nitrogen sources to a plant body; and can continuously promote and enhance the growth and development of the plant within soil. Accordingly, the bacterial strain, composition, and method of the present invention can assist in increasing the amount of crops and improving the quality thereof while suppressing the use of chemical fertilizers in the farms, and further can dramatically contribute to addressing soil contamination problems and the like, associated with the use of chemical fertilizers.
