The present invention relates to a composition for protecting liver comprising an extract of Litacea japonica (Thunb.) Juss. fruits or fresh as an active ingredient. The extract of Litacea japonica (Thunb.) Juss. fruits or fresh according to the present invention has a hepatocyte protective effect through inhibition of active oxygen in hepatocytes, and does not show toxicity by not inducing active oxygen production and apoptosis in normal cells, thereby being useful as a composition for protecting liver.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
