The present invention relates to a novel recombinant Klebsiella pneumoniae strain capable of producing 1,3-propanediol from glucose and a method for producing 1,3-propanediol from glucose using the same. A wild-type Klebsiella pneumoniae J2B strain does not produce any glycerol or 1,3-propanediol from glucose, but the recombinant Klebsiella pneumoniae strain of the present invention can produce 1,3-propanediol at a yield of up to 0.82 mol/mol from glucose. The recombinant Klebsiella pneumoniae strain of the present invention can produce 1,3-propanediol without adding expensive vitamin B12 in a medium, so 1,3-propanediol can be very effectively used for economical production.
