Disclosed are austenitic stainless steel with excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and a manufacturing method thereof. According to the present invention, the austenitic stainless steel comprises 0.08-0.13 wt% of C, 17-19 wt% of Cr, 0.45-0.55 wt% of Nb, 8-9.5 wt% of Ni, 0.25-0.95 wt% of Mn, 2.5-3.5 wt% of Cu, 0.085-0.13 wt% of N, 0.3 wt% or lower of Si, one or more among 0.05-0.35 wt% of Ti and 0.0002-0.002 wt% of Ce, and the remainder consisting of iron and inevitable impurities.
