The present invention relates to a method for operating a live streaming service of virtual reality (VR) content based on a divided image, capable of providing VR content with less delay or seamlessly, and an electronic device supporting the same. According to the present invention, the electronic device comprises: a head mount display (HMD) communication circuit forming a communication channel with a streaming server; a storage unit storing data provided by the streaming server; a display outputting an image; and an HMD processing unit functionally connected to the communication circuit, the storage unit, and the display. The HMD processing unit detects viewpoint information of the image related to a media presentation description (MPD) provided by the streaming server, transmits the viewpoint information to the streaming server, receives divided image fragments of a first resolution corresponding to the viewpoint information and divided image fragments of a second resolution corresponding to an area except a viewpoint from the streaming server, and combines and outputs the divided image fragments of the first and second resolutions to the display.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
