Multi-channel (MC) setup and access and waveform design mechanisms for millimeter wave (mmW) systems can be used. An access point (AP) that is part of the base service set (BSS) may provide multi-channel (MC) access to one or more stations (STAs) within the BSS. The AP may monitor beacon frames transmitted by another Access Point / Personal Basic Service Set (PBSS) Control Point (AP / PCP) associated with the overlapping Basic Service Set (OBSS). The monitored beacon frames may include service period (SP) scheduling information for the OBSS. The AP may generate an assignment of at least one SP and / or a contention-based access time (CBAP) channel to be used for the beacon interval, taking into account the SP scheduling information for the OBSS. The AP may send a beacon frame to the STA (s) indicating the SP / CBAP assignment. Other mechanisms may involve simultaneously transmitting a plurality of single carrier (SC) waveforms having non-overlapping waveforms to a plurality of STAs.
