The present invention relates to a faster-than-Nyquist (FTN)-based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission apparatus for efficient coexistence of broadband and sporadic traffics, which inserts the sporadic traffic into a resource allocated to the broadband traffic in uplink transmission in a mobile communication system to share wireless resources with higher efficiency than that of a Nyquist rate and apply such band multiplexing to a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) transmission apparatus; and a method thereof. According to the present invention, while a frequency domain, in which a part of a subcarrier is allocated, is removed from a frequency component of the broadband traffic, subcarriers not actually contributing to broadband transmission are selected and removed, thereby providing an effect of decreasing quality degradation caused by the removal of an actual subcarrier. Moreover, use bands of the removed subcarriers are used for transmitting the sporadic traffic, thereby providing an effect of using the sporadic traffic in a grant-free access mode.
