A novel lactobacillus paracasei AO356 strain of the present invention is separated from a human body, thereby having excellent activity for alleviating, preventing or treating obesity by having high stability, exhibiting adipocyte differentiation suppression and differentiation inducing activity to M2 macrophage from M1 and M0 macrophages in vitro tests, and exhibiting weight loss activity and decrease in blood lipid level through browning of white fat in animal experiments. Therefore, the novel strain of the present invention has low possibility of side effects and can have a diet effect without controlling an amount of food intake, unlike conventional functional diet food or drugs which have a side effect problem, thereby being used for a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing obesity or a food composition for alleviating or preventing obesity.
