The present invention relates to a black box for a vehicle and a method for converting determination criteria of an impact event using the same, comprising: a filming unit filming an image of the outside of a vehicle; a sensor unit sensing movement of the vehicle corresponding to an external impact or a driving environment while the image is filmed; and a control unit determining whether an impact event has occurred based on sensing data, and storing the image filmed by the filming unit in a memory in an image file when the impact event has occurred, wherein a plurality of modes are provided to have different determination criteria to determine the impact event, such that the determination criteria of the impact event are converted after a predetermined particular mode is automatically converted into another mode corresponding to a change of the sensing data within a predetermined period. Therefore, a mode determining the impact event depending on whether the vehicle has entered a road surface such as an unpaved road is converted, such that unnecessary determination of the impact event is minimized, thereby minimizing storage of an unnecessary image file in the memory.
