The present invention relates to nano clay and a producing method thereof to improve thickening and thixotropic properties in natural paint. In the nano clay which improves thickening and thixotropic properties in natural paint, the maximum particle size is 0.45 micrometer by controlling dispersion stability, ball media, and a rotation speed in a grinding process of a third step in Kibushi clay; a particle size within 200 nanometers occupies 70 to 80% by volume; and narrow particle size distribution with 110 nanometers or less occupies 20 to 30% by volume. The nano clay with improved thickening and thixotropic properties in natural paint: provides advantages capable of producing nano powder having very narrow particle size distribution by establishing grinding conditions such as the size of grinding media for grinding conditions, the loading amount of beads in a chamber, the rotational speed of a rotor, the concentration of slurry, and the dispersion stability of slurry; accordingly, thickens the slurry of natural paint and is suitable to provide thixotropy; shows excellent thickening and thixotropy properties compared to existing inorganic binders; and is industrially useful with a wide range of uses by having the best properties as a thixotropic agent even when applied to a slip process for producing a general ceramic product.
