The present invention relates to an edible hyaluronate film for alleviating xerostomia and a method for preparing the same and, more specifically, to an edible hyaluronate film for alleviating xerostomia, which can be used by an automatic applicator and is convenient to mass produce, and to a method for preparing the same. In particular, the method comprises the following steps: (a) dissolving hyaluronate by using a solvent to produce 0.1-30.0 wt% of hyaluronate solution; (b) injecting the prepared hyaluronate solution in an automatic applicator and casting a film to a thickness of 0.025-5.0 mm; and (c) drying the cast film under a condition of 30-60°C. Unlike an existing liquid product which is to be used as a gargle for alleviating xerostomia and then needs to be discharged out of the mouth after use, the edible hyaluronate film of the present invention attaches to the tongue inside the mouth, and upon coming in contact with moisture, undergoes gelation, and thereafter gradually disintegrates releasing moisture as part of hyaluronic acid is absorbed into the body during sleeping hours. Accordingly, the edible hyaluronate film does not cause unpleasantness when used, such as tightness in the mouth, and consequently, has the effect of alleviating xerostomia. In addition, the edible hyaluronate film is in the form of a film with dried surface, and thus is free of concerns relating to bacterial contamination of hyaluronate, and is convenient to produce, manage, distribute, and use.
