Treatment of Symptoms Related to Neurodegenerative Diseases by Pharmacological Skin Activation of the Cranial Nerves

The present invention relates to a method of treating symptoms of a neurodegenerative condition. The method includes topically administering a composition containing a sex steroid or cannabinoid, or a mixture of both, to the forehead, to the anterior portion of a subject that does not include an audiocyte, or to both of these anatomical locations. Symptoms treatable by this method are motor or non-motor symptoms.
