Reconstructed high-density lipoprotein therapy of myocardial infarction

There is provided a reconstituted HDL formulation for treating a patient following an acute myocardial infarction (MI) event, a therapeutic method comprising the same, and uses thereof. Such reconstituted HDL preparations include apolipoproteins, lipids, surfactants and stabilizers such as sucrose. Treatment of MI patients with repeated injections of rHDL improves cholesterol efficacy and does not cause significant changes in liver or renal function. The MI patient may have normal renal function or moderate renal impairment.
