The present invention provides a method for identifying schizophrenia patients at risk for recurrence. The present invention also provides a method for early detection of schizophrenic relapse. The disclosed method uses symptom monitoring according to a subset of Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PNASS) parameters. The methods of the present invention can be used to provide early intervention to reduce or prevent recurrence in schizophrenia patients.
