The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing lumbar spinal stenosis and an apparatus thereof. The method comprises the following steps: sequentially receiving phase difference magnetic resonance images of each time section photographed by standardizing one cardiac cycle into a plurality of time sections; obtaining the cerebrospinal fluid speed distribution of each time section standardized from the phase difference magnetic resonance image of each time section; calculating turbulent flow kinetic energy using the cerebrospinal fluid speed distribution obtained by each time section; and diagnosing lumbar spinal stenosis using the turbulent flow kinetic energy calculation results.
