The present invention relates to a technique for predicting power demand based on the regional characteristics. A method for predicting power demand collects and preprocesses past power usage data and data for the number of days with phenomena representing the number of days of weather phenomena, calculates the amount of electricity used for house for corresponding region by considering regional climate features extracted from the preprocessed past power usage data and data for the number of days with phenomena, calculates the number of houses for consumer by applying a weight for power usage according to the number of household members making up regional households, and uses the amount of electricity used for house and the number of houses for consumer to predict power demand for house.
