The present invention provides: an organometallic catalyst having a cationic transition metal complex and a borate-based bulky anion; a manufacturing method thereof; and a method for manufacturing an oligomer using the same. A novel organometallic catalyst of the present invention can be used as an alternative to a conventional aluminum or boron-based Lewis acid catalyst and is relatively low in use, thereby being economical and environmentally friendly.
