The skin care device includes a receiver that includes a discharge port and forms a chamber extending from the discharge port to the sump. The wick material is received over the permeable portion of the receiver for positioning over a specific area of the skin. If a vacuum is applied at the sump, the specific area is cooled by evaporative cooling when the specific area is wet. The apparatus includes at least one vent arranged to facilitate air flow and to prevent the creation of a vacuum in the portion of the skin where the wick material is located adjacent while the vacuum is being applied. The device can be utilized for wound care and to place the wick material within the skin wrinkles.
