Disclosed are an apparatus for estimating a battery degradation degree based on big data and a method thereof. The apparatus for estimating a battery degradation degree based on big data comprises: a data collection unit receiving degradation factor data for unit energy per operational section of a battery from a battery management device provided in a battery; a data processing unit calculating a degradation degree for unit energy reflecting degradation factor data received from the data collection unit based on pre-stored big data on a degradation degree for unit energy per operational section; a data storage unit reflecting the degradation degree calculated from the data processing unit to update big data of the degradation degree per the operational section; and a degradation calculation unit calculating the degradation degree of the battery having a random use pattern based on the big data of the degradation degree for unit energy per the operational section.
