Disclosed is an intermediation-based virtual currency exchange system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the intermediation-based virtual currency exchange system comprises: a virtual currency exchange server for receiving purchase request information and selling request information on a virtual currency, matching the purchase request information with the selling request information, which meet an exchange condition on the basis of asking price information to conclude an exchange of a virtual currency, and recording exchange conclusion information for each virtual currency exchange; and a virtual currency exchange intermediating apparatus for transmitting the purchase request information and the selling request information transmitted from a user terminal to the virtual currency exchange server, receiving asking price information and exchange conclusion information from the virtual currency exchange server to provide the same for the user terminal, and managing a virtual currency wallet address for each user terminal of a virtual currency wallet. The virtual currency exchange server and the virtual currency exchange intermediating apparatus can have a communication using a dedicated network through which virtual currency exchange server and the virtual currency exchange intermediating apparatus are connected to each other.
